We are delighted that you are considering attending the San Francisco High School of the Arts. This is an exciting time in your life, and choosing your high school is a very important decision. Our innovative education model has enabled our students to pursue their dreams at the nation’s and the world’s best colleges.
Our rigorous college preparatory curriculum challenges students, and our comprehensive arts program inspires them. Classical arts training helps students to become more focused and self-disciplined, which leads to them improving their academic performance as well.
High School of the Arts teachers are devoted to inspiring their students, supporting them in their endeavors, stimulating their intellectual curiosity, and helping them develop their own understanding and critical thinking skills. They will teach you the skills, knowledge, and mindset that you will need to succeed at college and beyond.
We strongly encourage students to visit us in San Francisco to learn more about our school, and determine if this is the right fit for you. No prior artistic training is required to apply, but students must be willing to take on challenges and work hard to succeed. We hope to see you on campus soon!

Once your application package has been received in full, our admissions team will contact you to schedule a family interview.

  • Admissions Decision

Admissions decisions for 2019 Fall applicants will be delivered by March 22nd, via email and mail.

Tuition and Fees

US Students

Middle School (Grades 6-8): $28,000 / year (8:00am – 4:00pm)
High School (Grades 9-12): $37,500 / year (8:00am – 4:00pm)

After School Programs: $1,400 per year, which covers participation in supervised after-school clubs between 4:00pm – 6:00pm daily. (Learn more about Clubs)

International Students

Middle School (Grades 6-8): $32,800 / year (8:00am – 4:00pm)
High School (Grades 9-12): $42,300 / year (8:00am – 4:00pm)

*Tuition includes the cost of instruction, books and educational materials, and laboratory costs.

Fee for art supplies or costumes/props:
$500 per year

School Lunch Program (Optional):

$1,350 per year, Typically consists of a healthy home-cooked Chinese buffet which includes soup, rice, fresh vegetables, meats, milk and fruit. On Fridays, homemade organic pizza, fresh fruit, milk and juice is served. (Learn more about The Kitchen)

Application Deadline

The application deadline for the 2019-2020 school year is January 31st, 2019.

Late Applications

We will consider late applications only if there are openings in the program of application. Please contact us to inquire about program openings.

Transfer Students

We accept transfer students entering grades 6 to 11. Please contact the Admissions Office for more information.
